The Irish Women Lawyers Association (IWLA) aims to create and enhance awareness of women's contribution to the practice and development of law and to ensure equal treatment in the workplace.
IWLA provides a professional and social network for women lawyers. Seminars and conferences are regularly hosted to update members and interested parties on new laws and procedures.
- Ann Harnett-O'Connor, Barrister , was recently appointed as the IWLA Chairwomen and is focused on increasing the IWLA membership.
- Maura Butler, Solicitor, a long standing member of the IWLA Committee member, is pioneering a mentorship programme for newly qualified women lawyers to assist them in overcoming the hurdles experienced in entering the profession. She is on the Board of NWCI, was Chairperson of NWCI from 2008-2010 and is NWCI's Representative to the European Women's Lobby (2010-2012). She also Chairs other NGO's.
