NWCI Director, Susan McKay talks to Prime Time about the sharp increase in the incidence of domestic violence as a result of the recession and the funding threats facing services for women and children trying to escape violence in the home.
"Because women and children who have been abused in their homes have already taken enough pain - they can't be expected to take any more," said Susan McKay, director of the National Women's Council of Ireland. She was responding to Miriam O'Callaghan's question on RTE's Primetime, about why refuges and domestic violence services should be protected from funding cuts.
