Guerilla Girls

"I'm not a feminist, but..." is the name of the Guerrilla Girls' latest exhibition, currently showing in Portadown's Millennium Court Art Centre, under the dynamic curatorship of Megan Johnston. The Girls, who call themselves "the conscience of the art world" came to Dublin at the end of September as part of a national tour.
National Women's Council Director, Susan McKay, appeared on a platform with them in University College Dublin, and got their support for our Spot the Woman Campaign. The GG's had already noted the absence of women artists from Ireland's art galleries and museums. Encouraging activism and protest in the arts, the Girls have a liberating attitude to failure.
"Don't worry about it," they said. "Try something, and if it doesn't work out, try something else. Don't just preach to the converted. Find new ways to say things, and new places to say them."
