FemFest 2019

More than 150 young women from across Ireland came together for FemFest, the largest conference for young feminist women in Ireland on Saturday, January 19th in Liberty Hall.
January marked the centenary of the first sitting of Dáíl Éireann and women in public life was a key theme of the event as well as issues such as consent, social media campaigning, activism and leadership. The programme for Femfest had been shaped over the course of four workshops held with young women (16-25) from diverse backgrounds.
Women's Health campaigner, Vicky Phelan, gave an inpsiring keynote speach. Other speakers included Orla O'Connor, Martina Fitzgerald, Mary McAuliffe; Ellie Kisyombe, Julia O’Leary; Minister Josepha Madigan, Aisling Cusack; Sarah Harte; Suzy Byrne and Eboni Burke. There was a performance on the day by the band, ELKIN. FemFest was funded by the Department of Heritage, Culture and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Justice and Equality.
