Graduation Day at Ruhama
Published: Monday, January 10, 2011
The 13th December 2010 was a day of great celebration in Ruhama. The reason for the festivity was the graduation ceremony for 28 women in our service, who all received their certificates for completing the Ruhama/Dignity Pre-training programme.
The courses were part of the Dignity project
The course participants were women affected by prostitution, including those who were victims of sex trafficking. The classes took place in Ruhama and within community education centres. The range of classes included Personal Development (STEPS), Arts, Poetry, Creative Writing, Computers, Literacy, First Aid and Manual Handling.
The certificates were presented by Susan McKay, CEO of the National Women's Council. She praised the women's work and their dedication to taking part in the project. During the graduation ceremony, two women; Imelda and Donna, kindly shared some of their experiences of participating in the training programmes.
Many of the women now look forward to going on to further education.
Congratulations and well done to all the graduates!
