The PSNI's Organised Crime Branch launched operation Pentameter 2 at the beginning of 2008 and uncovered evidence that organised gangs in Northern Ireland are moving away from crimes like firearms, drugs, extortion and moving towards human trafficking.A dedicated human trafficking unit was set up and a number of successful operations were launched.Within the past year police rescued 23 victims of human trafficking and charged 16 people with trafficking offences and controlling prostitution. The Youth and Family Judges and Magistrates Association (UK) Ltd has invited Klara Skrivankova (Anti-Slavery International) and Dr Tomoya Obokata (School of Law, QUB) to speak at a seminar on Friday, October 14, 2011, from 4.00-600pm.
