Sonas Housing Association is currently recruiting an Information and Communications Assistant and Women Support Workers – Relief panel (Supported Housing and Refuge).
Sonas Information and Communications Assistant
Reporting to the Sonas Policy and Communications Officer, the Information and Communications Assistant will provide administrative and research support to Sonas policy and communications work.
Main tasks
Information and research
- Further develop reporting and statistical analysis of Sonas services using the Sonas management information system
- Assist with research administration and data inputting
- Conduct library and field research using Sonas own data
- Assist in the development of Sonas policy positions and research statements.
- Review and research the area of domestic violence and keep up to date with new developments
Communications support
- Provide administration support for communications and policy including maintaining good filling and contact management systems.
- Assist with the development of communications resources for internal and external use
- Help to promote the work of Sonas through production of print and web materials and dissemination of same through social media, web technologies and events
- Assistance with the co-ordination and dissemination of internal and external newsletters
Other duties
- Assists with media activities and other events as arise
- Represent Sonas as required
- Collaborate with other NGOs and organisations as required
- Assist in dealing with internal and external information requests

Women Support Workers – Relief panel (Supported Housing and Refuge)
Reporting to a Project Leader the role involves:
- Providing long term support to tenants using an empowerment approach, including advocacy, goal setting and one-to-one work
- Working with tenants to help them to understand and come to terms with their experience of domestic/gender based violence
- Ensuring that the needs of tenants and their children are central to and inform the work of the organisation and contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures
Location: Various locations across Dublin.
Salary: HSE Social Care payscale – Point 1
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with vulnerable women
- A clear understanding of domestic violence as a gender-based crime and the impacts it has on women and children's lives
- knowledge and experience of working with women with a variety of complex needs, including addiction and mental health
- Good interpersonal and networking skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- The ability to work in a non-judgmental, proactive, calm manner
- Computer skills with competence in using email, internet and MS Office
- The ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with colleagues and tenants.
A relevant qualification, previous experience working with women and children affected by domestic violence and a driving license are desirable.
