Join NWCI - New membership criteria adopted
Published: Wednesday, June 19, 2013
At our NWCI AGM, held on Friday 14 June, 2013, members voted to change the criteria for membership for new organisations.
This change is the result of an ongoing process of renewing NWCI as an organisation. There are many challenges facing us as an organisation which require us to become more open and inclusive. The challenge to build and strengthen our membership base and consequently our mandate, the challenge to generate much needed income and the challenge to reach out to potentially strong and important allies that do not meet the current restrictive membership criteria.
NWCI believes that this move will generate opportunities for engagement with a wider cross section of Irish society, building the campaign for women's equality which we are leading, strengthening our voice, raising our profile and strengthening our capacity to effect real and lasting change for women.
The new membership criteria are as follows:
Ordinary membership of NWCI is now open to organisations which sign up to the vision, mission and values of NWCI and in the course of their own work demonstrably seek to progress equality for women in Ireland.
These organisations must have an ordinary membership of ten members, and will be allowed to vote in the AGM after one year of membership.
Individuals can also still join NWCI as a Supporting Individual Member by signing up to the vision, mission and values of NWCI.
