Mullen insists abortion conversation ‘entirely courteous on my side’

Independent Senator Rónán Mullen has described as ""inaccurate and misleading" reports on his recent conversation with a group of women who spoke to Oireachtas members on their experiences of travelling for abortion due to fatal foetal abnormalities.
Senator Mullen was one of a group of around 25 Oireachtas members who met with the women - Jenny McDonald, Ruth Bowie, Amanda Mellet and Arlette Lyons - in Leinster House last Wednesday.
The meeting was organised ahead of a Dáil debate on a private members bill calling on the Government to introduce into legislation the recommendations of the 'X case', a Supreme Court ruling that women should be allowed an abortion in Ireland in the event of a threat to the life of the mother's or the unborn child.
