NWCI Women with Disabilities Group
Published: Tuesday, July 07, 2020
We have been bringing disabled women together online over the last few months. We have been discussing violence against women, economic equality and participation.
The purpose of the group is
- to work with NWCI to ensure women with disabilities are more effectively represented across all our work
- to strengthen our advocacy and campaigning work
- and tochampion spaces where women with disabilities take the lead.
The group is a space for disabled women to come together to share information and ideas, to help shape the women’s equality movement in Ireland and to support disabled women's leadership.
The role of NWCI within the group is a facilitative role not a leading role; it is about supporting and creating spaces for the direct voices, activism and participation of women with disabilities, understanding the intersection of gender and disability.
We are really interested in supporting more women with intellectual disabilities to take part.
If you are interested in joining or want to find out more, please get in touch with Catherine on catherinel@nwci.ie. Let us know if you need any supports to participate.
