Policy Worker wanted for OWN Ireland

The Older Women's Network is a national network linking older women (55+) and older women's groups together to give a voice to older women in the decision and policy making process. OWN is now offering an opportunity to gain invaluable experience in supporting in the development of the organisation. This role offers the unique opportunity to participate in gaining an insight into influencing policy and networking.
What does OWN do?
- connects women
- provides information
- organises events to provide opportunities to express the views o older women; to promote life long learning and to influence policy;
- invites members to workshops and seminars to discuss issues of interest
- helps make the voice of older women heard by the decision makers.
The Role : Policy Worker (Contract) - Requirements
- Research to assist in drafting policy
- Carry out a literature review
- Develop and review current policy and develop new policies in OWN
- To produce reports
- Provide support to the National Director where required
Key Skills and Qualifications Required:
- A Third-Level qualification or at least three years experience or in a related environment;
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Computer literacy;
- Excellent administrative skills;
- Good written and oral communication skills;
- Proven ability to research and tailor information
- A knowledge of older people and gender issues is essential.
