Women’s Health Taskforce - Stakeholder Engagement Forum
Published: Friday, February 07, 2020
On 6th February, NWCI member groups came together for a Stakeholder Engagement Forum to discuss priorities for women’s health and to feed into the work of the Women’s Health Taskforce. The event was co-hosted by the Department of Health and the National Women’s Council.
The Taskforce, established in September, invited NWCI members groups and representatives from civil society organisations to discuss priority actions for women’s health in Ireland.
NWCI Director Orla O’Connor spoke about the important of working in partnership with the Taskforce to put women’s voices at the centre of their work. Health Coordinator Dr Cliona Loughnane also briefed attendees on the Women’s Health in Ireland report setting out the evidence base for the work of the Taskforce.
We then broke into smaller groups to discuss priorities for women’s health in Ireland, looking particularly at actionable items and specific ways of improving women’s health and experiences of the health system.
We would like to thank everyone who came along and actively engaged in the discussion and for sharing your expertise with NWCI and members of the Taskforce. By working together we can continue to put women’s voices at the centre of this important work, we can reduce health inequalities for women – especially for women who are most marginalised, we can improve women’s experiences of healthcare, and we can improve women’s health overall in Ireland.
