On the 26th of November, ICON and partners will launch a new creative initiative to highlight the impact on children and young people when they are trafficked for criminal activities in our North East Inner City Dublin communities.

They have been working with two Irish film makers, Gary Gowran and Sadhbh Lawlor, on developing a short animated film. They have undertaken an involved research process to include the testimonies and voices of the people they work with to bring an understanding of what trafficking for criminal activities looks like. ICON wanted to share the experiences of children and parents who become trapped in a cycle of fear, distress and harm when they are trafficked and also address the silent and hidden-in-plain-sight nature of the crime.

We have talked to youth workers and community workers, had inputs from organisations who specialise in this issue and professionals whose work engages with children and families who have been impacted by trafficking and need support.
