NWCI called on the Gate Theatre to initiate an independent investigation

In November, NWCI called on the Gate Theatre to commission an independent investigation into the conduct and behaviour of Michael Colgan whilst employed as CEO, and related governance issues.

Orla O’Connor, Director of NWCI said,

“Following a series of reports in media from women previously employed by the Gate Theatre and by others who as part of their work in the arts had connection with the former CEO Michael Colgan, NWCI is calling on the Gate Theatre to commission an independent investigation into the conduct and behaviour of Mr Colgan whilst employed as CEO, and related governance issues.”

The Gate Theatre is a leading arts organisation in Ireland in receipt of annual state funding, and it is important that any investigative process is entirely thorough and impartial.
