Embedding Diversity in Youth Work

Tuesday 28 September; Dublin city from 10.15am - 4.30pm


Is your youth group as diverse as it could be? This training course will introduce participants to the use of a newly developed Diversity Toolkit called Access All Areas. This toolkit can be used to carry out a full diversity assessment of youth groups.


Learning content:
The training will build understanding on:
- why diversity work is important,
- what difference it can make to young people,
- what youth workers can do to ensure diversity is the norm in their youth services.
- what are the needs and issues of diverse youth in your community.

In planning for change it
- guides participants through a self-assessment of their organisations
- examines practical ways to achieve new diversity goals and
- gives practical tips for engaging with a wide variety of young people;
- leads participants through the development of an action plan to bridge the gaps identified in their service.

Course fee: this course is free thanks to Dublin City Council Integration Fund.

A light lunch will be provided. Access All Areas, the diversity toolkit will be provided to each participant in USB form. Extracts will also be available in print form.


This course will suit individuals that have a professional role - voluntary or staff - in a youth work setting. It is designed especially for anyone involved in planning, evaluation and programme development.
