DIARY NOTICE
BUILDING FOUNDATIONS FOR GROWTH
LGBT DIVERSITY SOUTH EAST REGION SEMINAR
ON DEVELOPING CAPACITY AND COMBATING SOCIAL EXCLUSION
IN THE LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY

WHY?
LGBT Diversity has a vision that LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) people will be equal, visible and active participants in all aspects of family, social, political, cultural, and economic life in an Ireland which respects and celebrates diversity.
The LGBT Diversity programme, funded by Atlantic Philanthropies, is a coordinated response by local and national organisations to develop the capacity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) sector. We aim to address the social exclusion and isolation of LGBT people in Ireland by developing a strong, cohesive LGBT sector that can begin to address the various issues and challenges that this population face in their daily lives. LGBT Diversity has developed an exciting and ambitious strategy that will build the capacity of existing LGBT groups, develop supports for LGBT people in locations currently underserved, and strengthen the LGBT sector nationally. A huge part of this strategy is creating links, building relationships and promoting dialogue with community organisations and groups all over the country.

WHAT?

- bring together LGBT groups and individuals
- bring together mainstream service providers
- bring together the LGBT ('service users') and mainstream ('service providers') sectors.

- assess needs and potential strategies
- create an ongoing network of shared contacts
