While Budget 2025 contained welcome permanent measures, including investment in a women’s health package, permanent social protection measures and funding for Cuan in tackling violence against women - there was also an over-reliance on temporary one-off payments rather than structural reform and permanent solutions. With the general election on the horizon and the scale of public resources available, NWC highlighted missed opportunities for real investment and reform in our public services, particularly childcare.
