Submission to the Initial State Report under the UNCRPD

We have made a submission on the initial state report under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) based on the views and perspectives of disabled women and our group members. Disabled women encounter and experience a wide range of barriers in their lives. It is the state’s responsibility to take specific measures to reduce barriers to ensure disabled women can fully realise their social, cultural, political and economic rights as set out in UNCRPD. We are calling for all strategies and policies relevant to the lives of disabled women to be gender and disability proofed. We need gender and equality disaggregated data to better understand the lives of all disabled women.
