The National Women's Council, in partnership with Smashing Times and Frontline Defenders, hosted an online event titled 'My Body, My Choice: Abortion Activism Across the Globe' as part of the Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival on 18th October 2022. This event explored the reproductive rights movements across the island of Ireland and internationally in Poland and Chile as we near the final stage of the Government's Abortion Review here in the Republic of Ireland. The event aimed to explore the challenges that have remained with abortion access since Repeal and hear how the struggle to widen access is part of a global movement for women and pregnant people’s reproductive rights. The event was moderated by NWC Director Orla O'Connor and we were delighted to be joined by expert speakers including: - Ailbhe Smyth, former Co-Director, Together for Yes - Emma Campbell, Co-Convenor, Alliance for Choice - Justyna Wydrzyńska, Founder, Women on the Net, and member, Abortion Dream Team (ADT) - Lieta Vivaldi Macho, lawyer and university professor, Chile
