Calleary: Cuts will have disproportionate impact on mothers

Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Equality Dara Calleary has said that mothers will bear a "disproportionate burden" following today's Budget.
Mr Calleary said that there is a clear gender "imbalance" in the Budget.
He said: "This is made all the more galling when seen in conjunction with the Programme for Government's platitudes around gender equality which said: 'we are committed to ensuring the rights of women and men to equality of treatment and to participate fully in society'."
Mr Calleary said that Brendan Howlin's decisions will have a major impact on hard-pressed mothers struggling to make ends meet and keep their families afloat.
