Irish Heart Foundation Red Alert Campaign
Published: Wednesday, September 02, 2015
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women in Ireland. There needs to be public awareness of this fact because women and men have different experiences of cardiovascular health, in diagnosis, treatment and health outcomes.
Women’s symptoms relate to shoulder or abdominal pain, dyspnea, fatigue and nausea, whereas men’s symptoms are typically related to severe chest pain.
For the month of September the Irish Heart Foundation is running a 'Red Alert' campaign with a focus on women and heart disease and stroke. They have produced a free 24 page magazine covering topics such as eating for a healthy heart, menopause and diabetes. It includes real life stories, an exclusive recipe from celebrity chef Catherine Fulvio and interviews with experts. For more information see the Irish Heart Foundation.
