NWCI votes YES for Marriage Equality!
NWCI is eager to play our part in securing a YES vote in the Marriage Equality Referendum. Along with Moninne Griffith, NWCI’s chairperson and head of Marriage Equality, we are inviting our members and supporters to mobilise.
We are looking for leaders, advocates and influencers from among our membership and contacts to get involved.
Recent market research is showing that women in Ireland tend to be more supportive of marriage equality than men.
We are calling on you to be part of Women4Yes!
Though we are optimistic, there is a real chance – as with any referendum – that people just won’t turn out on the day. We really can’t be complacent. This referendum is a significant milestone in Irish history and a progressive, fair, equal and loving Ireland needs YOU.
All of us here in NWCI and in Marriage Equality are eager to support and facilitate people’s involvement.
We need people who are willing to:
- Write letters to the media
- Get involved in one of the 30 local groups set up around Ireland
- Promote a yes vote on Facebook, Twitter and on your own blogs
- Speak publicly to your local media and at events
- Pledge to vote online
-Fundraise, by organising runs, coffee mornings or a sponsored hug-fest!
Most importantly, speak to your family, friends, work colleagues and all who’ll listen about making civil marriage legal for all.
The Marriage Equality Referendum is slated for 22 May. If you are interested in supporting the campaign in any way, be it personally or through perhaps nominating others in your locality who are interested, please get in touch as soon as possible with our Membership Development Officer Eilís Ní Chaithnía at eilisc@nwci.ie and we will get you connected.
Thank you!
