The National Women’s Council of Ireland encourages attendance at EU Constitution Meeting in Navan

The National Women's Council of Ireland (NWCI) is encouraging women in Navan and surrounding areas to attend a public meeting to debate the EU Constitution.
The meeting, which takes place at 8pm, on Monday 11th April in The Newgrange Hotel, is being organised by The National Forum on Europe. The meeting will provide a neutral space in which the issues associated with the EU Constitution can be discussed. Everyone is welcome to come along and participate.
The meeting is part of the Forum's 2005 Roadshow aimed at helping people to get to know the Constitution, which is soon to be put to the Irish people in a referendum.
The National Forum on Europe is a public forum dedicated to debate on European issues and on Ireland's place on the European stage. It is independent and does not advocate any particular policy or course of action.
Therese Murphy, NWCI Chairperson, believes that European citizens must be given accurate information about the treaty establishing a constitution for Europe. 'If European citizens do not receive accurate information, they will be unable to make an informed choice when deciding whether or not to support the European Constitution.'
She continued by encouraging women to attend the meeting: 'It is important and valuable that the Forum is bringing the debate to the people in their own areas. The NWCI is encouraging women to attend the meeting on Monday evening in Navan. When the referendum comes about we hope that every woman in Ireland will be in a position to make up her own mind, based on her own assessment of what is good for Europe and good for her as a woman in Europe.'
