Calls for clear clarification on proposed child benefit cuts

The National Women's Council is calling for a report recommending a massive cut to child benefit to be published in full.

The Children's Minister has tried to allay fears about the recommendation of an advisory group which has mooted reducing the benefit to 100 euro per month per child.

Frances Fitzgerald is adamant the report has not been considered by Cabinet.

But Orla O'Connor - Director of the National Women's Council - says the recommended cut of 40 euro per month is "outrageous".
