The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC), with the support of Cosc, the National Office for the Prevention of Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence and the NDP, has launched the second part of its Public Awareness Outdoor Campaign 2010. The first part of the campaign was a National Bill Board campaign which was run nationwide.

Ellen O'Malley-Dunlop Chief Executive of the DRCC said: "The 25th November each year marks the beginning of the International 16 days of Action Opposing Violence Against Women. The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has developed a suite of ads which you will become familiar with over the next 16 days in support of the 16 days of awareness raising of violence against women. These ads have also been seen on Bill Boards around the country and will now be visible on the sides of Buses in Dublin.


The purpose of the ad is to highlight the fact that there is a 24 hour National Helpline 1 800 77 88 88 which is available 365 days a year for anyone who needs it.

- You may have been a victim of a rape or childhood sexual abuse and you don't know what to do. Ring this number and you will receive the help that you need.
- You may be the friend or family member to whom someone has disclosed to you that they have been a victim. You can also ring this number and you will receive the support you need to help your family member or your friend.
A very clear message which the ad also delivers is that there is a new beginning at the end of the line."
