Women’s Community and Political Participation - Workshop
Published: Monday, April 01, 2013
The National Women's Council of Ireland (NWCI) and the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland will host a workshop entitled Women's Community and Political Participation.
The overarching theme of the workshop is 'women's participation in post-conflict society'. At this workshop, we want to explore the broad issue of women's community and political participation. The workshop will aim to gather women's views on community leadership, women's involvement in community activism, women's involvement in local and regional government, women's views towards participation and whether women's involvement in community and political participation has changed in the last 15 years.
The guest speaker, Noirin Clancy from the Women into Politics Project will provide an overview to the workshop on the day. After that, women in round tables will be facilitated to reflect on their own views and experiences.
What: Workshop - Women's Community and Political Participation
Where: The Glasshouse Hotel, Sligo Town
When: Thursday, 11 April 2013, 11 am - 2 pm
NWCI is a partner in a Peace 3 project that aims to capture the experiences of women living through conflict and through the subsequent period of conflict resolution and peace building. Through these workshops, we hope to be able to consider the development of peace building strategies appropriate to the various stages of conflict from the point of view of women's experiences.
