Hidden Gems: Illuminating the brilliance of Women

CHI's Community Engagement Team is holding a free and interactive event, 'Hidden Gems: Illuminating the brilliance of women' to mark International Women's Day 2024. This year's theme is #InspiringInclusion.
On Tuesday 5th March, you will hear stories from some of the women Member tenants in the CHI community, see below to learn more about the facilitators. Attendees will have the chance to get involved on the day through group discussions. A light lunch will be available after the event.

There will be photography taken during the event.
If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please make yourself known to a CHI staff member in advance.

Speaker Bios
- Mahla is originally from Sudan and moved to Ireland following the war in her home country. She now lives in Limerick. She will be speaking about her journey and the impact of leaving her family as the eldest daughter and the importance of becoming resilient and getting through difficulties to give a good life to her own children.
- Fiona is from Carlow. She is a mother of four children and has been a hairdresser for 24 years. Fiona will be speaking about her experience raising her children in Irish society and the importance of creating a sense of belonging. She is a member of her estate's Member Association and works hard to grow a sense of community. She will speak about how being a hairdresser gives her the opportunity to bring happiness to other women's lives.
- Inga is a mother of three children living in Dundalk and is chairperson of the local Member Association. She will be speaking about her experience of International Women's Day growing up in Latvia and how this has shaped and influenced her to be an independent and confident woman.
- Nuala is from Bray and currently lives in Wicklow. She is a single mother and has one son with special needs. She is a member of the CHI national board. She is going to speak about the power of women in society and how she has been inspired by her late mother to accept the challenges of each day and to never give up when things get tough.
