Check out our Feminist Manifesto for the Local Elections 2019

Published: Wednesday, May 15, 2019

On Friday 3rd May we launched our Feminist Manifesto for Local Elections. We are calling on all candidates to support our feminist manifesto for local communities and to actively promote women’s rights. Public representatives must commit to strengthening local communities, challenging sexism and racism, promoting equality and operating in a way that empowers and includes marginalised groups.

In 2019, 21% of our councillors are women. Nationally out of 1977 candidates, 560 are women, thats 29%.  The local elections on May 24th are an important chance to increase women’s representation, and to elect more women to local authorities.

Local conversations with women on issues that matter to them in the Local Elections have been taking place in Limerick, Cork and Mayo.
