Published: Thursday, September 22, 2022
The National Women’s Council welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment’s draft Junior Cycle Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum which is being updated and will be in place in September 2023. In this submission, NWC provides an intersectional feminist analysis of the draft curriculum and highlights the importance of SPHE and RSE (Relationships and Sexuality Education) for realising gender equality and preventing violence against women and girls. NWC acknowledges the input of our members Mental Health Reform and the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre in this submission.
