Future Voices - Youth:Elect
Published: Wednesday, March 18, 2015
As a result of the work that Future Voices does with marginalised young people, they have seen how disenfranchised and disengaged young people are with the political process.
Young people are not engaging because there is very little for them to relate to and identify with within Irish politics. To challenge this and to try to make our representatives more representative, Future Voices are launching a new project entitled Youth:Elect. Youth:Elect is a year long programme for individuals who are under 30, marginalised and have ambitions to run in the next general election.
They can be marginalised in socio-economic terms, similarly because of their race, disability, sexual orientation or who are isolated by way of their rural location. Youth:Elect will empower and equip the participants with the practical skills and self confidence that is necessary to run in the General Election 2016.
They have all the major political parties participating in the programme and we have also reserved places for participants who wish to run as independents.
The deadline for application to Youth:Elect is March 23rd, applicants must submit a C.V. and a cover letter outlining how they meet the criteria and their reasons for applying, to info@futurevoicesireland.org by 5 pm.
