NWCI attend conference in Brussels on local government

Our membership Development Officer Eilís Ní Chaithnía attended a conference in Brussels in October at which the Council of European Municipalities and Regions launched its final report a pilot project in which it developed indicators to assess the implementation of the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life. A toolkit to adopt,  implement and monitor the Charter in local authorities was also launched at the conference.

Local authorities from across Europe attended to showcase good practice developed through the implementation of the Charter.

NWCI believes there is real potential for the Charter to be utilised to progress gender equality in communities across Ireland.
