Stop rewarding sexist obstinacy

The US ranks 40th in the world for women's political empowerment and 72nd for parliamentary representation -- legislatures, state and national.
Shocked by these stats, feminist satirist and media critic Soroya Chemaly picks up on a question asked in a recent "Forum" section of The Washington Post by political scientist Jeanne Zaino:
"Given the fact that Iowa has no record of electing women to our legislature or as governor, should it have the distinction, honor and power of holding the first and very important caucus?"
Chemaly thinks not. It is, she says, like rewarding sexist obstinacy.
