Women’s Aid ‘One in Five Women’ 16 Days Campaign
Published: Monday, October 21, 2013
Women’s Aid One in Five Women Campaign marking the international 16 Days of Action takes place from 25 November-10 December. The annual Women's Aid 'One in Five Women' 16 Days Campaign brings over 100 community organisations together to show solidarity with the one in five women who are affected by domestic violence, raising awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence in our society and promoting services available for those affected.
The 16 Days Campaign is an important opportunity to raise awareness of the issue at a national and local level. By being active in our communities during the campaign through events, exhibitions, public actions and debates; and by engaging with the media and local elected representatives, we can all push for positive change to make women safer.
The 16 Days of Action also makes the issue visible in our society, gives hope to women who are suffering and holds perpetrators of abuse to account.
